I got this from Mark Stemen, Teaching Assistant at University of Iowa. Recently Mark told his class about the 1-800 number that anti-environment legislation groups had distributed in hopes of tempting people to call their representatives expressing support for removing environmental restrictions. The boomerang is that the pro-environment groups are distributing the number and encouraging folks to call their representatives on the enemies dime. Mark: So, if you are interested call your representative. Student: You mean I can call my Senator with this number? Mark: Yep. Student: Any Senator? Mark: Well... except for Bob Packwood. Heard from the back of the classroom: Yeah.... to get him you have to dial a 1-900 number!
