The following was sent to me by a friend sitting on a search committee
at a university in Iowa (to remain nameless).
He wrote:
You might enjoy this.
A candidate for the Director of our Research Center faxed a
colleague to request a letter of recommendation. It was
accidentally faxed here instead. It read in part:
"Iowa is too wet and droll. But it's a directorship
so I should apply..."
The fax is now part of his permanent application file.
