From _New Scientist_, 16 January 93, p. 56. Seems that the German hi-fi magazine Stereo has its own test lab where engineers check the performance of new equipment. Recently the lab decided to develop its own test CD, pressed with a mixture of test and musical signals. "Test" and "musical" were two of the small number of English words known by the engineers, so they decided to combine them to come up with a catchy title. After the artwork had been printed they showed it to a British engineer who had a bit of a chuckle over the chosen wording on the sleeve: "Check your HiFi System by having fun with the one and only TESTICAL." [Shades of Himmler! :)]
