An observation I had while watching the Westminster Dog Show:

Watch a dog show some time. See how the judges look over the animals, examine their teeth, peer into their eyes, poke, and prod them. Watch the dogs get pranced around, doing things very unnatural to dogs. After the show, the dogs probably go home and talk to other dogs that aren't show dogs, and tell them what went on. The other dogs probably think they're nuts.
