In order to prevent problems to essential systems (water, gas, electric, etc.), most national utilities will be shutting these services down on Thursday December 30th, and starting them up again on Monday January 3.

If you plan to need any of these critical services during that window, please stock up in advance. Empty water bottles and gas cannisters are available at your local commissary. Electricity may be stored in Leyden jars. Although these are not available commercially, info on building one may be found at http://www.alaska.net/~natnkell/leyden.htm.
