CBS cancels movie after crash
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The crash of Swissair Flight 111 off Canada's
Atlantic coast has prompted CBS to pull the movie "Final Descent" from
its weekend schedule, Daily Variety reported Friday.
The crash on Wednesday night claimed the lives of 229 people.
The action-adventure film is about a jumbo jet that can't land after a
mid-air collision with a prop plane. It stars Robert Urich and Annette
O'Toole.
It was scheduled for broadcast Sunday, but CBS felt it was insensitive
to air the film so soon after the Swissair crash, Variety reported.
Instead, the network will air "It Could Happen to You," starring Nicolas
Cage and Bridget Fonda.
