I went to the second annual "How Berkeley Can You Be" parade this morning. Before the parade arrived, people dressed as British Bobbies but calling themselves the "Fashion Police" came along and inspected the waiting spectators. Those who passed muster were given a yellow feather. Those who did not were given a "ticket" much like a traffic ticket, with a box checked off for the infraction being cited: Inappropriate dress for body type Failure to yield to good taste Reckless coordinating Excessive accessorizing Dressing to incite parental distress Wardrobe expired Iron not activated Loitering with clothes on Sandal permit not prominently displayed Code 9: Beige load too heavy Bad hair day
