While shopping today at a grocery store other than my usual one, I encountered the following message, printed on a bright yellow decal (i.e., this was not a hand-lettered temporary sign) and affixed to the back of the check-out ATM:

"To protect the security of your account, our checkers will swipe all debit and credit cards. Thank you for your cooperation."

Sure glad I was paying cash! ;-)
