I had heard the stereotype many times, but Jim was my first real life encounter, complete with pocket protector and a pocket full of pens and pencils. The only thing missing was the tape on the glasses. After about a month on the job, Jim went up to our office manger and asked her in a very serious tone if anyone had turned in a gold pen. She said no. "Well," said Jim pointing his pocket full of pens, "I normally keep it in number 5."
