[This really, really happened. I was there.] A couple of weekends after my wife and I had planted azalea bushes, they began to bloom. Wanting to discourage the blooms so that the plants would concentrate on rooting instead, I removed all the blooms and buds that I could see. When my wife returned home from a business trip, I told her that the azaleas were trying to bloom, but that I had pinched off all the buds. "You pinched off all the buds?" "Yes." "Why?" "...Because they were too young to be having sex...?"
