I heard this told by Chet Atkins (an oldtime guitarist of great repute) this morning as he was being interviewed on an American syndicated morning radio show called "Imus In The Morning"... During the days when they were settling the west, a wagon train was heading toward what are now the southern rockies when they were attacked by a tribe of natives. While they were able to repel the attack, one fellow was not so lucky and took an arrow right in his chest. Knowing that he was not much more for this world, he told his compatriots "go on without me, but be sure to name a town after me". One of the younger men in the group quickly replied, "we'll be sure and do that for you Mr. Buquerque".
