Students here are hassled by me if they leave jobs running when they log out. Recently I received mail from a student who said "I have a 'ps -ef' running and can't kill it. The process ID keeps changing. Please help". (this must be a Heisenberg uncertainty 'ps', where the act of observing the system changes its behavior).
