New Canadian $2 Coin [Original - Credited]

(chuckle)

In Canada, our coins have a picture of the Queen stamped on one side, and
an animal on the reverse. Several years ago, the $1 bill was replaced with
a $1 coin, with the loon (a bird) on the reverse. This coin is
commonly called a 'loonie'.

A new coin will be released to replace the $2 bill. The animal on
the reverse of the $2 coin will be a polar bear. There are a number of
proposals for a common name for the new coin.

Joseph A. Torbay, Cambridge, Ontario, writes in a letter to the local
newspaper (paraphrased):

"Apparently, the coin shows the Queen in front, and a bear behind. Maybe
we should call it the 'moonie'."
