"Three weeks after Virginia Tech graduate Andrea Ballengee, who claimed membership in Phi Beta Kappa, among other academic honors, was named Miss Virginia, beauty pageant officials dethroned her, citing 'new facts' ... [S]he claimed that it was all a misunder- standing--she had been 'invited' to join Phi Beta Kappa. 'I believe 100 percent what I wrote down.' She also apparently con- fused her B average in high school with 'highest honors' and a 'Most Oustanding Cheerleader' award with 'Most Outstanding Female Athlete' award. \. . . Her goal reportedly is to attend law school, and eventually to run for Congress."
