My father-in-law, Bob Katzive, sent me this by email, and asked me to send it to rec.humor.funny: While visiting the library, I overheard a conversation between two grade school students. The two were discussing recent political events, and the following bit of extracted dialog was heard: Student 1: Well, according to the GOP... Student 2 (interrupting): What's the GOP? Student 1: Great Orphanages Party, I think... [Note for non-US readers: Incoming Speaker of the House of Representatives, Republican Newt Gingrich, has suggested that orphanages be used to care for children of welfare mothers. The Republican Party here is also known as the Grand Old Party (GOP).]
