In an e-mail note to the members of a committee (known as OSAC) which I chair, I accidentally left several blank lines followed by the word "It" on a line by itself at the end of the message. After a number of committee members called this typographical error to my attention, I sent the following one-sentence (!) clarification: > Dear Mr. <WITHHELD> and Esteemed members of the OSAC, > > In response to a number of queries, I have decided to respond > formally, and inform you of the fact that the final word of my > preceding electronic communication, known hereinafter as "It" and > appearing several lines below the last word constituting substantive > content of the message, appeared in error, and that that error was of > a purely typographical, rather than a substantive, error, and should > not be construed to alter or obviate the preceding substantive > content of the message, nor to indicate the existence of some further > content that was intended to be included, yet was, in fact, not > included, due to typographical, communicative, or other error. > > --Robert Book > Chair, Owlnet Student Advisory Committee > rbook@owlnet.rice.edu > > > P.S. Nor does it mean my nickname is "It."
