(True fact from the Sept 28 issue of the New York Review of Books)
There are many important historical symbols and icons located in the area of Tiananmen square in China, e.g., Mao's mausoleum, Mao's massive portrait, and the Forbidden City. In addition, every October four large black and white portraits of the revolutionary heroes--Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Stalin -- are temporarily displayed. Some Western journalists refer to this quartet of paintings as "The History of Shaving."
