(Boston Globe, April 20, 1989) Boston University is considering a plan to raise money by taking out life insurance policies on its students and alumni, and collecting the benefits when they die. University President John R. Silber reportedly floated the proposal in a speech last week, saying BU would pay for policies on consenting students and alumni, and eventually reap millions of dollars for the school's endowment.
