My friend Bruce tells a story of when he was a teenager and he and his brother were looking at magazines in a drugstore, under a big sign that said "No Loitering". An older, female drugstore employee came up to them, said "Can't you read?", and pointedly looked up at the sign. Bruce's brother Norm--who didn't really know what loitering meant-- looked at her, looked at the sign, looked back at her, and said: "So, who's smoking?"
