A lot of work was put into preparing for the Y2K event in anticipation of the feared "millennium bug," and to the relief of all not much happened. All that planning, programming, stockpiling and hoarding. All those late hours, all those tests, all those documents and files archived. Millions of systems checked, re-checked and re-checked again. Billions of lines of code, laboriously scanned for the tiniest of problems. And let us not forget all those individuals who gave up their evening on December 31st to be there, just in case something went wrong.

But it was all worth it, and someday in the future we'll look back at this and laugh.

Because we'll be senile, old farts then.
